Brandy + Devon

I'm getting back to blogging, folks!  (How many times have you heard me say that?!)  I really am, though; I'm not sure how long facebook business pages are going to last and since that is the one tool I've used to build my business, that makes me a wee bit nervous.  Anyway, getting back to good 'ole fashioned bloggin'!

Brandy, Devon and their kiddos met me for their session on a beautiful late-September evening near my home.  The session got started a bit late; the sun was droppin' like it was hot and Brandy & I were both nervous to lose that gorgeous glow from it.

Well, lose anything we did not.  They got out of the car and I think I jumped up & down with excitement with how great they looked.  Brandy has already received comments on my facebook page on her awesome her hair is (Anna at The Refinery in Rockbrook Village in Omaha is partly responsible for that - just throwin' that out there!).  Anyway, their outfits were everything I could have hoped for: perfect colors, coordination, lots of layers and they fit just right.

We rocked this session in about 20 minutes flat and I couldn't be any more in love with them.

Check it!

"And please say to me
You'll let me hold your hand."

Meet the McGuigans, both insanely talented artists.  Christine is a fabulous photographer (and one of my studio partners!) and Matt is a musician, who travels the country on the regular with the bands Moses Prey, Yesterday & Today and Rave On.  (I may have missed one or two there.)

When Christine asked me to do a little love session with her & Matt, I was very excited.

Then the day came.  And I started freaking out.  Photographing photographers makes me shake in my sandals like nothing else.

I kept thinking, "I HAVE to pull this off for her; I hope I'm able to give her what she wants."

Christine + Matt pulled up to the studio, cooler in hand and cracked me open a beer (obviously they know I accept bribes).  I asked Matt if he was excited for the shoot, fully expecting to respond like 97% of male clients do, but he said, "Yeah, I really am!"

That's when I knew we were going to have a good shoot.

It also helped that C+M are total naturals and totally in love - - and have the same sick sense of humor.  So, I wish I could say I was the reason for these images, but I didn't do much.  They're awesome.

Happy anniversary, you two little lovers!

Mollee + Mike = beautiful downtown Omaha maternity photos

Friday, August 31, 2012

First, I would like to thank these two for their patience in waiting for these.  I feel like a broken record as I say that so often these days.  If you're still waiting for your photos, they ARE coming soon.

There's nothing not to love about Mollee.  I've known the gorgeous girl for about 8 years now and I'm not gonna lie, when I found out she was expecting, I kept my fingers crossed that she would contact me for maternity pictures.

Mollee & Mike are truly beautiful inside & out and so, incredibly laid-back, cool and "go-with-the-flow" type of people.  They gave me free reign to have fun and do whatever I wanted with this session.  I happily obliged.

Since their session, they have welcomed their daughter, Lenora, or Leni, and, as expected, she's just as stunning as her parents.  I'll share her session soon, too.

Mollee & Mike met me at my downtown Omaha studio and we rocked it out.

Enjoy!

Mike's grandmother's rosary - how awesome is that?

The Big News!

Friday, May 11, 2012

When I began taking pictures "on the side," "for fun," "for friends" a little over two years ago, I never fathomed I would be where I am today.  I mean, NEVER.  I am so, incredibly thankful for everyone who has brought me to this place.  I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to ride this gravy train*, but let's just say I gotta chug on for at least a little over three more years.

I GOT MY OWN STUDIO!

The 1500 square-foot, naturally-lit studio is located within the historic Mastercraft Building in downtown Omaha.  Originally built in 1941 as a furniture factory, it is now comprised of start-ups and creative companies and I am so excited to be among some of Omaha's most talented.  To read more about the building, visit themastercraft.com.

(The "uplighting" in the studio - lots of beautiful light!)

And, oh my goodness, I forget to tell you all the BEST part:  I'm not going on this crazy adventure alone!
I have joined two, insanely-talented photographers, who are quickly becoming great friends:  Niki Manning & Christine McGuigan.

(They're, clearly, very busy -- and WAY more stylish than I!  Hopefully they'll teach me a thing or 2!)
(They're also gonna kill me!)

Truly, they're wonderful people and I couldn't feel more blessed
to have them in my corner as we take this on.

Look for us opening the studio in July 2012 with a kick-ass (sorry, Mom!) open house to follow!

CHEERS!

*I do not actually feel as if my business is a "gravy train."  Next to my family, it's my heart & soul.
